Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (born 23 March 1953) is an Indian entrepreneur known for founder of biocon. Under her leadership, Biocon expanded into biopharmaceuticals, research and the development and manufacture of medicines. The company became an international biotechnology enterprise with operations in multiple markets.

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw studied zoology at Bangalore University and brewing at the University of Ballarat in Australia. After facing barriers to entering the brewing profession in India, she established Biocon in 1978, initially operating as an industrial enzymes business.

Under her leadership, Biocon expanded into biopharmaceuticals, research and the development and manufacture of medicines. The company became an international biotechnology enterprise with operations in multiple markets.

Mazumdar-Shaw has maintained a relatively private personal life. She was married to John Shaw, who also held leadership roles at Biocon, until his death in 2022.
