Dilip Shanghvi was born on 1 October 1955, in Amreli, Gujarat, India. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calcutta before entering the pharmaceutical business.
Shanghvi is the founder and managing director of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., one of India’s largest pharmaceutical companies. He also focuses on generic medicines, specialty drugs, and international pharmaceutical markets.
He led Sun Pharma’s expansion through key acquisitions, including Ranbaxy Laboratories, Ocular Technologies, and Concert Pharmaceuticals. Additionally, Shanghvi has received the Padma Shri award for his contributions to trade and industry.
He is married to Vibha Shanghvi and is a parent to two children, Aalok and Vidhi, both involved with Sun Pharma.
